The relocation team trusted by collectors, brownstones, and the discerning.
A house of registrars, art handlers and senior project leads. Two-hundred-and-forty private moves a year. No franchise. No subcontractors. Every crate touched by a Marrow employee, from pre-survey to placement.
Editorial brief: how a quiet relocation house became the standard for art-grade household moves on the Eastern Seaboard.

Independently audited · year-end 2025Why high-net-worth families choose Marrow.
Discretion is the product.
Every member of our crew signs a project-specific non-disclosure agreement before a single crate enters a residence. We operate from unmarked vehicles. We arrive at service entrances. We do not photograph interiors, we do not solicit testimonials, and we do not publish the names of the families whose collections we move.
The roster of households we serve is, by deliberate construction, a quiet one.
Our registrars come from the auction houses.
The firm's senior registrars trained at Sotheby's, Christie's and a major Manhattan museum loan department before joining Marrow. They handle condition reports, crating specifications and provenance documentation to the standard a registrar's office would accept on intake.
An art handler is not the same person as a mover. We are explicit about which is in your residence.
One senior lead, from survey to settlement.
You are introduced to one senior project lead at the pre-survey. That same individual writes the inventory, oversees the crating, rides with the climate truck and is present for placement. They are reachable, by direct line, for the duration of the engagement and the thirty days following.
Hand-offs are where things get broken.
The Marrow Protocol.
A six-phase method developed over fourteen years of relocating private collections, family residences and estate consolidations across the Eastern Seaboard.
-
01
Pre-survey
A senior project lead visits the residence for a two-to-four-hour walk-through. Architectural access points are measured. Wall depth, doorway clearance, elevator dimensions and stair switchbacks are recorded. The lead returns with the registrar's photographer if fine art is in scope.
-
02
Inventory & condition
A full inventory is produced within ten business days. Every item over a stipulated value threshold receives a numbered condition report with reference photography. Provenance, prior-restoration notes and AAA appraisal references are reconciled where supplied. The inventory is delivered to the client portal under encrypted access.
-
03
Crating & preparation
Museum-grade crates are constructed on-site or at our West 14th workshop, depending on residence access. Soft-pack protocols are reserved for textiles and upholstery; rigid crating with internal foam carve-outs is standard for paintings, sculpture, photography and case-goods of value. Climate calibration begins in-crate.
-
04
Climate transport
Transit is by climate-controlled fleet, owned and operated by the firm. Cabins are held at 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity managed between 45 and 55 percent relative. Routing is GPS-logged and shared with the client in real time through the project portal. Two drivers per vehicle on long-haul.
-
05
Placement
Placement is supervised by the senior project lead and, where retained, the client's interior designer or art advisor. Hanging heights, sightlines and protective hardware are confirmed against the residence's lighting and HVAC plan. Cases are unpacked in sequence; the room is photographed before the crew departs.
-
06
Post-care
For thirty days following placement, a post-care concierge is available by direct line for adjustments, secondary placement of late-arriving items, and coordination with conservators if condition reassessment is requested. A closing inventory is filed, reconciled against the opening inventory, and archived.
A standard moving company is not a relocation house.
Six categories where the difference becomes material, on the day.
| Dimension | Standard moving company | Marrow & Co. |
|---|---|---|
| Crew composition | Day-labour roster, rotating, not vetted to the residence | Salaried employees, project-specific NDA, background-checked annually |
| Fine art handling | Bubble-wrap and blanket-pad, single-crew lift | Museum-grade crating by trained crater, registrar-supervised, two-handler lift minimum |
| Climate during transit | Ambient cargo trailer, no humidity control | Owned climate fleet, 68–72°F, 45–55% relative humidity, GPS-logged |
| Insurance ceiling | Released-value coverage at 60¢/lb by default | $5,000,000 comprehensive named-perils policy, individual riders available |
| Client coordination | Call-centre dispatcher, no continuity of contact | One senior project lead, from pre-survey through thirty-day post-care |
| Documentation | Truck-side inventory, hand-written, often illegible | Numbered condition reports, reference photography, encrypted client portal archive |

Bespoke-quoted per residence.
Every engagement is priced privately following a pre-survey of the residence and its contents. We do not publish a rate card. We do not estimate by square footage. We do not quote until we have walked the floors.
Pricing reflects the variables that matter — art volume, climate requirements, residence access constraints, destination geography and the duration of post-care — rather than the variables that do not.
A typical engagement begins at $14,000 for a full single-residence move. The largest engagement we executed in 2025 ran to seven figures. Both received the same senior lead.

-
01 Do you publish standard pricing?
Every engagement is bespoke-quoted following a private pre-survey of the residence and its contents. A typical engagement begins at $14,000 for a full single-residence move and scales with art volume, climate requirements and destination. We do not estimate by square footage and we do not quote off photographs alone. -
02 What insurance coverage do you carry?
Every move is underwritten by a $5,000,000 comprehensive named-perils policy with specific coverage for fine art, wine and antiques. Additional rider coverage can be arranged for individual works valued above policy limits; this is a five-business-day process handled by the firm's broker, at no markup. -
03 Do you handle museum loans and gallery transfers?
Yes. Our registrars are Sotheby's and Christie's trained and we maintain working relationships with the registrar offices of three major auction houses and seven Manhattan galleries. Loan-out documentation, condition reports and lender-of-record forms are handled by our registrar's office in-house and delivered to the borrowing institution. -
04 What is the typical pre-survey timeline?
A pre-survey is scheduled within seven business days of inquiry. The walk-through takes two to four hours depending on the residence and the number of fine-art and wine items in scope. A full inventory and crating plan, with associated pricing, is delivered within ten business days following the visit. -
05 Can you coordinate with my interior designer or art advisor?
Coordination with AD Top 100 designers, art advisors, family-office operations directors and trust counsel is standard procedure. We share project access through our encrypted client portal and accept direction on placement, hanging height, lighting calibration and storage protocols. Designer and advisor inclusion is invariably a benefit to the engagement. -
06 Do you offer long-term climate-controlled storage?
Our two storage vaults — Long Island City and West Palm Beach — maintain 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit and 45 to 55 percent relative humidity year-round. Vault access is biometric and restricted to firm employees. Each crate held in trust is photographed quarterly and condition-reviewed annually at no additional charge. -
07 Do you handle international relocations?
Yes. We coordinate door-to-door international moves through a network of vetted partners in London, Paris, Geneva, Hong Kong and Dubai. Customs documentation, CITES filings, ATA carnet preparation and import-duty reconciliation are managed by our in-house logistics desk. A Marrow senior lead accompanies the engagement through the originating port. -
08 How is privacy maintained on a sensitive move?
Every member of our crew signs a project-specific non-disclosure agreement. Unmarked vehicles, scheduled service-entrance access and discreet uniforms are standard. Client identities are never published, never referenced in marketing material and never photographed. We do not solicit testimonials and we do not respond to media inquiries about active or historical engagements.
Begin a confidential consultation.
